The Ipswich Bay is light so her performance is boud to be good, the
short waterline means minimal wetted surface, her radiused chine
means very low drag for incredible light air performance, it looks
like you have a eletric motor on in a very light breeze. Bill
hasen't had the boat out in heavy air yet but it should be able to
plane (weight/sailarea/relatively flat bottom) the boat tacks very
quickly because of short waterline and no skeg. Construction time
was about 2 1/2 months. I have posted a few more construction photos.

Hi all
just posted a few photos of the sailing dory (photos section 18 ft.
sailing dory) I designed and built for a friend. He will use it as a
day sailer and "raid" boat. I actually had the privelage of describing
the design to Phill Bolger one afternoon in West Gloucster,
nice/interesting guy. He used strip planking on a number of designs
and really confirmed for me that it was one of the quickest, simplest,
economical, and ellegant ways to put a boat together. The hull of my
dory went together in about two weeks 3-4 hrs a day, pretty good for
such a complex shape, It was all the other details (deck, foils, rig)
that took another 2 1/2 months!

Hi all
just posted a few photos of the sailing dory (photos section 18 ft.
sailing dory) I designed and built for a friend.
