<< 3) I 've reviewed the rigging design on Mr. Bolgers plan and the lug sail
rigging advice on Mr. Michilak's site but I'm not thrilled by the sheet line
plans for a double-ender. Running the sheet through the rudder looks to me
like an awful lot of stress on a weak area. Has anyone tried a bridle?
me from sharing it, as you may recall it later and use it: The balanced lug
rig of the Windsprint is too much sail for the boat. If you read what most
builder/sailors have to say about it, you see they reef the sail almost
permanently. My solution has been to modify the rig. I now sail the boat with
a lateen rig of around 75 sq. ft.
This rig is easy to set-up, is better to weather, is very fast in a breeze
and the boat feels much more stable.
With either rig I ran the sheet to the rudder stock. No problem.
