RE: First sail

Derek, I disagree -- this is the most valuable post. Thanks for sharing
your experience.

Hi All

This isn't really an 'added value' post, more of a thank you to a group which has been a source of information and indirectly, encouragement.

Just wanted to share my joy at finally getting the Nymph 'Magdalene' out under sail. After a couple of abortive attempts in recent weeks I managed a weekend hour on Okanagan Lake (in BCs southern interior).

First try saw the wind drop before I got out of wading depth. Just as well really, since I had decided I had no room for the oars. A stumpy 'self rescue' paddle was duly obtained. Second attempt saw me frantically wielding said paddle in a vain attempt to move the rigged Nymph through about a foot of breaking swell into deep enough water to drop rudder and leeboard... third time was a charm - the creak of the rig and that wholesome balanced feeling of harnessing wind and water. Preaching to the converted here, I know. Thanks to Messrs Bolger, Payson and the folks at Sailrite.

And to you.
