The only gotcha I found was that, when scarfing, the overlay won't feather out. A hooked scarf (blunt ends) would solve the problem, but I just used filler on the 3/4" stuff I was using.

Treat it like any other plywood. Running a belt or ROS with 36 grit
will let you know if there is any small flaw under the overlay (it
wont sand) if both sides are exposed in the style of construction.
With the top grades it is not needed but alwas a good idea anyway. The MDO will glue just fine without it.
