Re: [bolger] Fast Glue?
David
I have been using PL Premium and a staple gun with stainless staple.
Pretty quick. I let the frame pieces set up on an Elegant Punt las year,
after that just rolled right on through.

I built my son a tortoise last summer and a brick for me and used
plaatic resin glue. Its esy to mix up small batches (powder and
water) and sets up pretty quick. I put the bottom on them right
after gluing and screwing the sides and transoms. Using a spacer
stick (a piece of 2x4 wrapped in plastic tape so glue won't stick to
it) really helps with keeping the bottom of the hull sides at the
right spacing as you put the bottom on.
BTW, I had Polysails make up the sails for both boats for me and
they did a great job really cheap.

lake. What a great boat design.
I have long wondered if the 'broken arm' casting tape could be used
for quick boat building. My guess is that it would be great.
See for instance:

Every so often (but not at this moment) you see this glass tape come
up for auction on EBay at dirt cheap prices, past the expiration date.
I heard that it is still plenty usable, with an expired date, but is
better if warmed up first.
FBBB,
My friend and I are going to build a pair of Tortoises for our
daughters. It would be nice if we didn't get slowed down too much
waiting for glue to dry. It would also be nice to use a one-part glue.
The Tortoise just has the one curve on the bottom, so maybe there's
no reason not to glue/screw the bow and transom and move right on to
putting the bottom on, even before the glue on the bow and transom is
dry.
At any rate, suggestions for a strong enough, fast setting, one-part
glue would be appreciated.
