Yes, Nels, that's it. I'd seen ROXANE before, but a small pic I saw
recently jumped out at me saying this is "a St Valery" type of Normandy
lugger (flobards). Not just the lug sails, but the size, capability,
layout, and looks. Apart from popping out of a factory mould, the
wineglass transom, and the sail plan reversal, it strikes me as a very
similar boat. IIRC, Irens designed ROXANE in 1994, the same year BWAOM
came out, but the ST VALERY details were published a year or two later.
Maybe there were mutual influences at worK?

I saw the photo at the London Boat Show lecture notes page that is
linked from JWD's latest letter. Wharram also mentions PCB trailer
sailer designs in passing. There's also a small photo of Oughtred's new
Haiku design (after Munro's Egret) there.

There is also an article written by Dan Gonneau the builder of a LONG
MICRO which I now own, but I can't recall the issue # now.

Not sure what you mean. ST VALERY would be cat schooner rigged?

http://timkeeshen.tripod.com/thebuildingofstvalery/

ROXANNE, ROMILLY yawl rigged?

Then Irens has a 3-masted ROANNA which is what? A cat rigged yawl
schooner?

Irens also designed the boat that holds the world powered
circumnavigation record - motor yacht Cable & Wireless Adventurer.

Hi Nels,

Just to be clear, that's my fried Jim McNamara in the dory; I took the
photo.

Jon Kolb

There are a few Bolger connections in WB this past issue.

John Tuma has a great article about dust control and it shows him
sanding his strip planked CHEBACCO interior and it is also in the
background in several other shots. Has an interesting looking
tabernacle. Is that to design?

Then Mason Smith of former Birdwatcher article fame has a very
readable and photo illustrated article about Rushton sailing canoe
designs.

As mentioned previously, a great photo of Jon Kolb and his continued
small boat projects in the LAUNCHINGS section. And a photo of Jim
Melcher's ALERT in the CLASSIFIED.
