An aluminum extrution 1/4 X 3/4 6061 T6 works well, As
long as you don't try to spring it to far. I've also
see some plastic extrutions that would work for this
as well.

What I did for a bending batten when I was drawing Superbrick's hull curve was get a 12' straight piece of molding from Lowes for a few
bucks. Make sure it's clear grain and bends smoothly. It should work
for connecting the dots on the sheer just the same.
