you seem to have a clear picture in mind of what you require and
what each boat will do.

I'll tell you what though - I'm sure I'd have to get the plans for a
Long Micro Navigator conversion myself if they were done. Just to
have them ready and waiting. I would, though, prefer something as
you say "to let the cabin stay as is and add the doghouse to part of
the cockpit, lowering cockpit in that area". I like the other boats
too, but this one seems to do it for me as far as going another step
past "bed and breakfast" AS19 to real cruising "vacation homes".

I life near the Chesapeake, up the Patuxent River. Lots of shallows and some good thunderstorms. Off the summer season it can get cold and wet. I'd like to go out for days and eventually go places. I want some shelter to sit in, with a view. The Fast Motor Sailer seems to have that but is is much less of a sailboat. That long flat bottom is made for going faster and I doubt I'd ever bother to get an engine of enough size to do it justice. SeaBird86 has a lot going for it. The plans have a pilot house version and I find it a very good looking sailboat. The draft is getting up there with this boat. Long Micro seems to be in between, good stability, not to deep. Nice displacement speed hull. And Long Micro is the easiest to build of the lot so it attracts me. The question would be to let the cabin stay as is and add the doghouse to part of the cockpit, lowering cockpit in that area or open the thing up like the navigator. I see advantages and
security (sea keeping and lockup actually) with the two compartment approach. Gives one separate facilities which the first mate would appreciate.

Just thinking at this point, I got a Puddle Duck Racer to finish for a bit of quick local fun...

They may well mate, but as I don't have either plan I couldn't be

sure about the ease of that. PCB&F have said that they haven't

upgraded the LM to a Nav or whatever, as they've not had sufficient

demand. Now they have a big backlog of commissioned design work. A

high percentage of the LMs that are built seem to have owner/builder

modifications, some to a high degree, but, alas, no LMNav as yet

AFAIK.

Head spinning? I hope that's in a "not drowning, waving" kinda way ;-

Yes that's for sure. Take note of what Rob said above in Message

waters." Good point. The majority of Micros don't get their

flotation - I've gotta plead guilty here too on behalf of mine.

Me too! I'm thinking biminis, even beach umbrellas - at the least.

More likely a dog house: something like Roger keyes Micro "Paloma

Blanca". I think you could sketch out something like that, send it

to PCB&F and obtain their opinion. AFAIK that's what Roger did - had

approval. He also commissioned the NAV upgrade. Im also thinking of

adapting the helmstation from Michael's AS29 "Walkure" - there are

lots more pics of that elsewhere than here
