Bottom line, the files storage system at Yahoo groups is fatally

The wiki website is definitely an improvement over the current Yahoo
storage, with files (photos, scans, drawings etc.) spread over
different folders (files and photos) and many groups (Bolger 1 to X).
The limitation with Flickr is the same like now with Yahoo!.
Means: the wiki page has difficulties to include photos from
non-Flickr sites, and we are dependent on a single company.
For me the main two issues are:
1) Do we stop here (i.e. a photo album), or do we continue to work on
a searchable database of designs (including photos, drawings, scans,

the wiki part is good but the use of flicker for hosting is just about
as bad as yahoo. the large pictures render slowly compared to opening
a jpeg and they are profit centric and pictures have a habit of
disappearing after a certain age. After the next corporate takover

hi,
I would like to see a simple directory structure with thumbnails
for the pictures, conforming to basic html. The large pictures render
much slower than a basic jpeg and the page itself would load poorly
with a dial up connection. Tags are great for general search but very
bad for specific searches. I would like to see the pictures hosted
online and in a basic format that was open to viewing to everyone.
google would then be useful for a quick search. The dangers of going
with a profit centric proprietary solution is well illustrated by
the present system.

I heard the rumor, and it is true, that Yahoo is phasing out Yahoo
Photo's, in favor of Flickr based photos.
(Someone help please by explaining what we need to do to export and
preserve the photos to Flickr.)
It looks like lots of photos on Flickr have the tag of 'bolger' and
'boat' and 'nameofboat'.
Work needs to be done improving the 'tags' at Flickr for the Bolger boat photos.
WikiDot.com allows easy custom 'on the fly' integration of the flickr
bolger photo pages
I don't have energy to do all the work all alone, but hopefully we can
collaborate together to team up 'once and for all' put together an
index catalog the Bolger boats including statistics and photos.
In order to allow collaboration with this work, I have experimented
with a ultra-rough 'beta' of a photo index page. Needs lots of work,
breaking up into subpages, etc... (Actually, it could also handle
links to websites, and much more.)
It takes a lot of time to load, but that can be fixed if we break it
up into sub pages. Sail boats. Power boats. Rowboats, etc. etc.
