Re: [bolger] Small Plywood Diesel Cruiser files uploaded

Sometime in 1990 or so, SBJ started going downhill, in fact in this issue
(May '91) you can see it happening. The articles are about overpowered
runabouts, PWC's, Pontoon boats, and other production craft, while the ads
are curiously for boat plans, and boat building materials. I guess if it
had been economically viable in the earlier format, it would still be with
us.
I like your idea of making her into a little battery powered cruiser. I
would think about raising the aft cabin to have sitting headroom, then
installing a galley and dinette.

Oh thanks for the quick response, Chuck! The Gifs look
great.
I can't help thinking of that piece as Bolger's stunning
understatement of his opinion about where the magazine was
going. That boat got on my 'let's build that one too list'
as soon as I opened the page.
The Badger's light. I see it now with batteries down low
instead of gasoline, for something with a shorter range.

The Badger's light. I see it now with batteries down low
instead of gasoline, for something with a shorter range.

Badger seems to have been trailerability. It doesn't matter to me,
so it doesn't count as good news. Yes, the "bridge" has standing
headroom, but the sleeping quarters are... Claustrophobic?
The design certainly is ingenious with its mini-oil-tanker looks.
It might also be Bolger's way of saying you can't have *every*thing
in a 6m (20') trailerable power cruiser.

Chuck, et al,
Cool design. Reminds me of Hawkeye. I would be tempted to elaborate the
cabin to a sort of trawler type affair to provide full sitting headroom for
the sleeping quarters. From what Phil has written, I suspect the design
would tolerate the additional weight and windage,
