Re: Ships graveyards - slightly off of pure Bolger
Lincoln,
Quite true. I really had not thought about that. Hampton Beach
and other Hamptons are quite close to Portsmouth NH. I once caught a
6 foot blue shark less than 1 mi off Hampton Beach, I have not been
swimming there since!
Another reason to glass the bottom.

Lincoln,
I assume the original posting is referring to Southhampton and
Porstmouth, England, UK.
There is a place on the North Shore of Massachusetts called The
Marine Exchange. I think it is on rt 1 in either Peabody or Danvers,
they have some pretty good deals as well. I plan on shopping for
opening portlights there.

Hi everybody,
I have been shopping for equipment for fitting out my Micro. I have
made a discovery which you might be able to use to save some cash.
I was staying just outside the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton
last week where I found a marine scrapyard. This place was amazing
with all sorts of marine equipment (civil and military) being broken
up for resale. I purchased a whole bunch of fenders a genuine CQR
anchor and a lifebouy for about US$140. The anchor alone retails at
US$399 at Westmarine
They sold chain at near scrap price The place was worth visiting
just to look around.. They have two enormous submarines there that
they are breaking up and stacks of non marine hardware such as
Russian WW2 tanks etc Is there something similar over there?
Next summer I will sail my boat in the Solent
