Re: new member
Hi, John. There are getting to be several of us on the List. Johns, I
mean. Nicknames might help and I see that you come with one
already: 'Chip'. Although almost no-one knows me by it now, I'm often
tempted to reactivate my old high school nickname, 'Dewey'. (As in
Dewey Balfa, of the Cajun music family -- although I only learned
about him some years later.) Maybe I'll try it out as I sign off...

to learn much.

Hi Jack,
Thanks for the kind words. I really enjoyed building my
bobcat and I can't wait 'til this summer when I can take it out again. I
spent a year building it but only on the weekends did I work on it. I live
in an apartment here in Dayton but my parents have a house in Kentucky not far
from Cave Run Lake. They have a basement that they were kind enough to let
me take over. To answer your question yes the photos were taken at Cave
Run Lake. It's a nice place sail with wide open spaces and plenty of
places to pull up on shore. It's just difficult to find a place to park
the boat an trailer during the summer. Are you near the Cave Run
Area? Well, I hope you enjoy building and sailing your bobcat. If
you have any questions let me know. I've got some improvements in mind for
this summer like extra seating (no good place for a second person to sit due to
the tiller getting in the way) and some wooden guides between the mast step and
partner (it's darned hard to find the step with the end of that mast). How
long do you think before yours is finished?
happy sailing

Hi Chip,
Welcome to the group. I saw your web page
(can't remember where) with pictures of your Bobcat. Great looking boat
and beautiful pictures of you out sailing. I printed them out and have them up
on my shop wall for encouragement, as I am currently building a Bobcat.
Were the sailing pictures taken at Cave Run Lake? It looks like a
fantastic place to sail.
Jack
Greetings to all you Phil Bolger philes.

That's fine Charlie, but this is a non-commercial list, so you won't be
able to prospect here for work. I'm sure that you're joining in to offer
advice will be most welcome.

Hello,
I've just signed onto the Bolger egroups site. I am the owner
of a small boat building shop located in Central Florida, near
Orlando. I have always been a fan of the work of Mr. Bolger and
would like to offer my shop's services to would be owner builders.
I have been building boats for nearly thirty years. I can offer
you any stage of completion for your boat. My rates are ridiculously
low to encourage you to consider speeding up your dream by having
some of the work done for you.
I own a large number of Bolger plansets and those of other
designers. I am equally comfortable working in wood/epoxy,
fiberglass and steel or aluminum. I am especially fond of Bolger
designs, but would build any boat you care to choose.
I hope to hear from you and share in your dream project. Charlie.
