It's OK Bill I'm a crazy home built aircraft nut as well! As it stands the airplane will get built before the boat. Oh we will be using some ideas that Burt help get into mainstream aircraft.

As for Fer-A-Lite, as far as I'm aware it's reasonably similar to
ferrocement, only without most of the advantages. The main problem with
Fer-A-Lite is that the steel and resin used to construct it
expand/contract at vastly different rates (steel and cement do so at
about the same rate), making it pretty much inevitable that the hull
will crack and crumble over time (something that shouldn't happen to a
well-made ferrocement hull).
If you haven't already, I suggest checking out

The schooner Anne (aka Tantra) almost certainly did not hit a freighter
head on, her weak and feeble bowsprit (made from thin-walled, spiral
welded steel more normally used for drainpipes and similar, non
load-bearing structures) bent because of the strain put on it by the
genoa. Hitting the freighter is simply a cover story made up by Reid
Stowe because he doesn't want to admit that his boat is a slowly sinking
POS.

Reid & Soanya's attempt to drift around the world for three years or so.

Has anyone used this product? The 1,000 day sailboat has me intriqued. Hit a freighter
head-on with no damage to the hull? Wow!
