Re: [bolger] New member intro
For what its worth Fritz lives 2 doors down from me, its my shop in the
Klondike page on his web site. If global warming ever backs the tide up
to flood us we have enough small boats in our respective back yards to
rescue the whole neighborhood.

Owning both. I use my Tortoise a lot and I don't use my Teal.

I've seen pretty Teals -- it is a nice boat that sails well. Like all
Bolger boats.
A simpler design to build (if you can live without the sailing
capability) is Fritz Funk's Wacky Lassie. I successfully used that for a
building program with my daughter's seventh grade class. If you haven't
worked with kids before, remember that everything will take them 4 times
as long as it took you. (The teachers in my daughter's class warned me
about the adolescent theory of relativity -- time expands and space
contracts.)

Harry,
Thanks for the link, I actually have corresponded with Fritz and built several of the wacky lassies that have been donated to a youth rowing club. Looking for something with a bit more free board and the capability to sail. The lassie is a fun boat to build but really only suitable for one small person.

Howdy,
Just a quick intro and why I am here. I have been looking at Teal for
a youth build program. I choose Teal because it is simple to build,
can be built without the use of fiberglass, it is not stitch and goo,
and it can be rowed and sailed. I joined the group to see what others
who have built Teal like or don't like about it, how it rows and how
it sails. I currently am working on finishing a Elver 20 for myself
and I have several other boats. I am going to put together a Teal soon
to do a test run and see if it feasible for what I am looking for. I
am also searching for a good tender design to use with my Elver. I
post on several other groups and I keep a fairly current blog. I saw
the posts here on the tugs, I have plans for a 24' utility tug designs
by Scott Sprague that I hope to build one of these days.
