Anyone looking for inexpensive shock cord should try REI-outlet.com.
Click on camping/hiking, and then on tent accessories. They have
18-inch to 36-inch pieces with plastic hooks on each end for around
$.97 to $1.23 a piece -- a lot less than marine stores charge. I
ordered some a couple weeks ago and it seems to be good quality.
Alas,
they has some packages of six pieces for around $2, but they seem to
be out now.
