I have thought about this a lot too.
There also is the large group of 'teardrop trailer' enthusiasts doing
things very similar to your idea

One downside is that it could easily consume 500 manhours and $3,000
for a 'do-it-yourself' multichine plywood trailer,
and plenty serviceable used trailers can be had for cheap.

Now, what I want is a multichine amphibious hybrid bicycle boat.
