Re: query on RUBENS NYMPH side panel measurement
Thank you all for your answers.
Does anyone have similar problem with front part of side panel as
Rock did?

My problem came at the front of the side panel. The forward end seems to bee raked too steeply. I am not sure if the problem is me or the drawing.

If the side panel of both "Nymph" and "Rubens Nymph" are the same, as I
believe they are, I think there is an error on Payson´s last book "Instant
Boatbuilding" on page 99 (Ruben´s Nymph sheet 2) you could read 1´ 3 and
3/16" on two different stations, but on "Build the new Instant Boats" on
page 62 (Nymph, Sheet 1) you could read on one of this station says 1´ 1 and
13/16"
I think Nymph is the correct one, please correct me if I´m wrong.
Máximo.

I do not have the plans, the following comment is from "Build the New
Instant Boats" and from an article in Small Boat Journal #44 both which
have the same measurements.
for the side panel bottom curve, the measurement taken from the baseline
which is the plywood edge. Measurement at the 4' station 1' 3 3/16", 3'
station 1'1 3/16", 2' station 11 1/4".
why was I reading SBJ #44? Because somebody mentioned the rowing Bateau
in #49 and I was reading the Bolger questions and answers at the end of
that article and that lead me back to the scow schooner in #44 where I
discovered an article by Payson on building the Nymph and another
totally separate article by a guy who built a Garvey Schooner. This
always happens whenever pick up the old SBJ's.
You can't read just one.

I don't have the Reuben's Nymph drawing, but I have modeled the Nymph
in Free!Ship. I understand that Rueben's Nymph and Nymph have
identical bilge and sheer strake panels.
Here is a picture of the expanded panels from Freeship, projected onto
a 3 inch grid. This should likely be helpful in the double checking
of the dimensions. Also, be sure to read Dynamite Payson's chapter on
the use of the "Architect's Scale" for measuring scaled dimensions off
of scaled blueprint drawings!

Hi,
I'm currently drawing on the sheets the parts of Rubens Nymph design.
I found what seems to be a mistake in the figure of a measurment of the
side panel.
By the middle of the panel, and towards the fore part, the figure 1' 3
3/16" is repeated twice. When I draw the lower line of the side panel
in that part, it clearly shows that something's wrong, as the line goes
up when it seems that it should go right forward or slightly forward
and aft.
According to my "eye", the fore measurment of both should be 1' 2 1/4"
instead of 1' 3 3/16"
Does anyone know exactly which the correct figure is?
Thank you.
Rds.

please read as follows
