Re: [bolger] Re: rubens nymph in Uruguay
Its one of the original Instant Boats
http://www.instantboats.com/epunt.htm
You don't have to fiberglass which speeds things up. Stitch and glue is
an easy concept but it isn't fast. I have built two EP's now, the first
one was with a student and he was doing it as a project for school. It
took about 20 manhours to be ready to paint. The current one I have
about 12 hrs into. Both boats came in around $60, I built them with PL
Premium construction glue in a tube and stainless staples. The basic
concept is throwaway boat, 2-4 seasons then build another. The first one
has held up better than I had hoped, I am going to paint and see if it
has a couple of more years in it. They are really light, easy to carry
There is a link at the bottom of the EP page with more pictures

Has anybody owned both a Rubens and a Elegant Punt? The EP is stable and
easy to row and much easier to build. The Rubens is probably prettier to
most eyes. The EP is very light and tows well. I use a 6 hp Tohatsu on
my Pearson Triton and the EP drops it from 5.1 to 5.0 kts. I can't tell
its back there under sail
