Sailing WindSprint

Hey Bolgeradoes,

Had my Windsprint out today, just a short sail around my local lake. Hope to
take her out on the Puget Sound on Monday if the weather holds. Today was
perfect, breezy and sunny with big ol' cumulus clouds floating overhead.

For those of you who don't know, my Windsprint is decked and I use a lateen
sail of about 75 sq. ft., which I seems to let me zoom right along without
much risk of dumping the boat.

I experienced something today that was new to me. As I got ready to pull into
shore I suddenly realized I had way too much speed and no way to really slow
down by letting the sail out as the wind was almost directly blowing on
shore. I tacked around and thought about it, then pointed into the wind and
dropped my sail. An obvious maneuver to the rest of you, but I haven't done
it before single handed.
