Re:Stowing oars in a June Bug
Simple but not elegant. I just stuff the oars up into the bow and bungee them down to the seat. They really don't move when you are sailing so I remove the bungees before going on the water.

I hadn't thought of putting the oars on the bottom, mainly because of the
partial bulkheads under the seats. It dawns on me now, there's no reason
not to cut holes in the bulkheads, which would allow the oars to lay low.
I'll look at the boat again, with that thought in mind.

The two usual approaches are to either stow the oars on the bottom--either
down the centerline or along the chines--or to leave the oars in the
oarlocks with the blades tucked under a shock chord across the aft deck. The
latter works while the boat is underway, but is probably not secure enough
for trailing.

Can anyone suggest a clever arrangement to securely stow 6 foot oars in my
Junebug. I'd like the arrangement to be secure for trailering and when
sailing, yet quick and easy to release when the need arises. I've thought
of a dozen ways to do it, but I figured someone here has seen a slick
arrangement somewhere. I'm thinking of using some eight inch braided nylon
with a cleat, or some such, or perhaps chocks made from wood.
Any elegantly simple ideas out there?
