PCB wrote that he had trouble finding a place to stow those long oars
in such a small boat, and decided to hang them off the transom.

I recall that the design called for the possibility of adding an
outboard motor, at a later date, to increase the resale value.

I don't know for a fact, but I am 99.9% sure that drain holes are called for.
Hi Bruce,

I see what appear to be two oars sticking out the back of
the boat through the transom. Are they used for something
other than rowing in this position? Or is this simply
where Bolger has chosen to stow them while not in use?

I was also wondering why there's a big hole in the middle of
the transom? Is this to catch and temporarily hold the
water from a breaking wave in order to slow the boat down
until the water drains out again? If so, how can the water
drain out when the lowest part of that gold-colored deck
inside the boat at the transom is lower than the bottom of
the big transom hole on the middle? Are there lower drain
holes in the transom that are not shown in your renderings?

Sincerely,
