Re: [bolger] Re: Lateen Sail on Zephyr
Thanks Peter,
I am indeed thinking about trying a sunfish sail on Zpehyr. From the
sail plan in Instant Boats pp.120, Zephyr sports 81 ft^2 with reef
points for 52. This should be workable

Leaping to the conclusion that you are wondering if you can use the
Sunfish sail on Zephyr, my answer is probably, with caveats. I'm sure
the difference in area is small. The Sunfish sail may give more
weather helm due to the longer boom, but you can mitigate that in a
couple of ways. The whole sail can be moved forward if need by by
moving the attachment of the halyard and the tack. You can fit a
bigger rudder blade. Possibly you can figure out a way to move the
leeboard back a little.

Does anyone happen to know the comparison between Zephyr and a Sunfish?
