Re: [bolger] Boat recommendations...thanks!

Jackie:

No harm done picking a good one. WS was the largest boat I
thought would work for me on cartop. That turns out to be
very simple. Rack and roller, shock cord, rope. You lift one
end each time.

You'll be so pleased how sweet the shape is.

Jackie,

You couldn't have chosen better!!! Now, forget all other boats for a little
while and really dig on the windsprint. You'll love it.

RE: [bolger] Boat recommendations...thanks!

Thank you to everyone who replied to my inquiry as to which boat might be good for my first project.
After reading all the suggestions, based on the specifications for use I provided, and looking over the plans for each I settled on the Windsprint. It looks to be fairly easy to build, large enough for my uses but not so big that I couldn't tote it to my destination via my cartop.

I went to the archives and did a search for "Windsprint" to see what problems, changes, etc. folks had with building theirs. Lots of good info and pointers to resources there. I may still have a few mast and rigging questions when the time comes but for now the rest of the construction looks fairly straight forward.

Will keep you updated.
Thanks again.

P.S.: I liked the  piece of advice from David Ryan who wrote "Lastly, don't worry too much about picking the right boat. No matter which you choose, you're going to be ordering plans for the next before the paint dries." <vbg> This is so true. I haven't even bought the first piece of plywood and I'm dreaming over pictures and plans of bigger boats with cabins and such. <sigh> My friends already think I'm a bit off center at this point.
