With the cost of lumber going out of sight in an upward direction and the
quality doing the same in the downward direction alumium may be the most
cost effective solution. I have always felt Payson was looking at low cost
methods not low tech.

First, don't use aluminum for the mast. It is a poor substitute for fir,
cedar, pine, or spruce.

Also remember that these simple rigs originally used no "bits of brass," etc.
they used wooden pegs and the odd metal nail or pin. Look in Bolger's and
Payson's books for solutions to each rigging need. You will find a cheap, low
tech solution for everything.

Cheers/Step
I prefer not to buy this kind of stuff online, unless I know the exact brand
and part number for the piece. I like to shop in person for rigging bits.
Check to see if there's a West Marine in your area. They seem to stock most
of what you'll need and they have a great catalog for armchair shopping.
