Re:Shoulder boats
This punt is one of the best little boats I have ever used. 1/4" ACX
for everything and MAYBE tape on the seams- I'm not sure. A coat of
gloss exterior latex every Spring and it served me well for three or
four seasons of fishing everywhere from desert lakes to Kamloops to
Puget Sound. It fit neatly into the shell on my pickup with a couple
feet sticking out the back.
Took all of eight hours and two sheets of plywood and a couple of
hemlock 4X2s to make it.

I would add to this list Auray punt, if 6 mm okume or other light weight
marine ply is used. The boat weighs in at 50 lbs. with fibre glassed bottom.
Its very easy to carry by grasping the gunnels aft oar sockets and resting
the center thwart on your shoulders. One looks like a giant upright walking
turtle with head drawn into shell. Very easy on back and body in general. A
ball to row and carries a HUGE load.
I HAVE carried June Bug single handed for a short distance. But I'd have to
call it a "crushing" experience, even with a boat build from light weight
material and no glassing.

I HAVE carried June Bug single handed for a short distance. But I'd have to
call it a "crushing" experience, even with a boat build from light weight
material and no glassing.
