Re: Green fishing boat photoset 'Robin Jean'

I always liked the box keel he used on some designs rather than the center board. He has had a design or too where he had the center board first and a later drawing of the same boat had a box keel. I wonder why he used the center board instead of a box keel in this design. One of his commercial boats also has shown a wide built up keel, each of these 3 designs on flat bottomed boats to deal with cross winds.

PB&F has put a CB in a number of his power boats, including Illinois, Wyoming, and Minnesota. I've always thought the board a serious maintenance problem I wouldn't want to have.

According to the MAIB article, she was built without the centerboard.  PB&F have some concerns about her ability to work a line of pots in a cross-wind, without it.

Very sweet looking boat. Also has the "square stern" I've thought to put on a Topaz.

I noticed an off-center board in the drawings. Wonder if this prototype was built with it, and how it affects the handling? Wow, here (I think) is a photoset by CaptJoe of the the newly built
Green Fishing Boat we have been hearing about in MAIB for the last
couple years.
