Re: Could use some thoughts

I stand corrected, I thought it was a double keel on the bottom to stop the skidding at low speeds when lightly loaded.

I loved playing around in the boat. Mine would plane with a 10hp, 2 cycle johnson. We would go out in Nantucket sound and drift sideways just catching bluefish after bluefish and then dash for home. The bow shape really does the trick in keeping the boat from digging into the waves on the trip home.

(hopefully glassing the 18' skiff this weekend).
I told him what the boat was and he did some surfing and came up with several builds and cartoons. His had just a rounded upper chine so the wake spray came up the side to the gunels. The print showed a 1 X 2 on the outside of the upper chinewith the bottom of the 1 X 2 sloped down so that is what we did. It looks like it should knock down the wake splash and give some lift.

My boss got a used Diablo and would like to modify it a little. One it has a 25HP Merc on it and when built a 1 X4 was glassed in along both bottom edges on the outside where it is strait. My boss has a disslike of the wake cumming up the side and wetting your fingers when cruseing so wants to add about 7' of 1 X 2 along the lower side of the upper chine. Would that help lay down the wake and what would the effect be on use when it rolls in a corner under power.
