Re: [bolger] My Hat's Off to you guys!
Hi Dave
While I haven't got it finished (ie. mask, rudder, leeboard and paint) I do
have my brick (Das Box) fully enclosed and while it doesn't have the
beautiful lines of the Gypsy it will be a useful little boat. I would
suggest trying one. It took me eight days for my brick to go from a pile of
plywood and 1x8's to a enclosed boat. During thoses 8 days I worked on it
for about six days of around averaging about 6 hours per day or about 36
hours total. Most of the time was taken waiting for the glue to fully dry.
If I had had more clamps I could have clamped up both transoms instead of
only one at a time and I would have been done sooner. I worked on the boat
during my two week summer break at the college. Now I am back at work and
the going will be slower but I hope to have the boat ready for the water in
another 4 weeks only working on it on the weekend.
Any way good luck on what ever boat you decide to build.
