Re: [bolger] Brick motor

My foam Brick does about 5 knts max with my Honda 2, at 1/4 to 1/3 throttle.
About the same as my Lily, the rocker is too great. I'd suggest a small electric
trolling motor. Clyde

Mike

I think that 8 hp would be over kill for the brick. Remember the motor is to
be mountined on the bow of the brick and the boat driven backwards. I have
modified Das Box so it has a motor mount on both the bow ans stern but do
not plan anything bigger that a 1 or 2 hp or and electric motor.

LOL

Sure, it would "support" it. Don't go over idle. Wear a PFD. Stay within
sight of other boats. Make friends with a diver to retrieve the motor when
it breaks off the transom...

Seriously, I wouldn't put an 8hp on a Brick... Beyond the fact that the
transom is not designed to support the weight, much less the thrust, of a
8hp, the hull is not designed to plane.

So, what happens to a Brick-like hull at planing speeds? Anybody tried it?

Sorry to go on.

How much does your engine weigh, and how thick is your transom? You could
probably hang it on there and go easy on the power, but "is no recommended".
