Re: Gryphon
No real need to do that for the now upgraded yahoo group photos facility. Lately, there's been some very big files in the photos when viewed at "original" size.
Yahoo's fiddlin' with other things now though :(

Thank you Dominic and Giuseppe for your replay./Is a very nice boat, unfortunatly the beam is over 8.5 ft and therefore not trailerable here in Texas.Giuseppe,About the S.P.Dory, I am looking for a displacement hull or semidisplacement (Better to have a few more MPH) about 25 to 29 ft LOA with a small pilothouse and cabin. From my location I am able to go for hundred of miles in inland waters and rivers.Planning hulls are a pain in a short choppy and don't handle well at hull speed. The S.P.Dory is a nice boat but the LWL is very short and this is slowing down the hull speed.A nice boat with a good length and speed ratio for me is the "Tennessee" but the instant boat or stitch and glue is not appealing to me, therefore I will try to put together something similar to the Tennessee but with plank on frames and with a little bit of flare.I am just wondering if such arangement may give similar performance with the addition of a little bit more of power (about 40 hp) to compensate for the extra weight.Any comment or info about similar boats will be greatly appreciated.Giuliano

Gryphon was built by Bruce Tyson and launched at Port Sorell on March 4 2009, she is a Bolger Bunny R Lobster boat 28 feet by 10 and 3 feet draught. Engine is a 55hp Yanmar 4 cylinder and has only about 25 hours on the clock. She cruises at a comfortable 7 knots and when pushed will do close to 10.

Received: Friday, 12 June, 2009, 12:35 AMThere is a very nice boat posted on the photo album last week named "Gryphon".
Unfortunatly I am not able to find any reference in the messages about this boat.
I am now fixing to start building a St.Pitre Dory but after I saw those photos I will put the project on hold till I can examine this one first.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Well yes you are right it only went on a trailer once with all the hazard signs and warnings for an oversized load ,behind a Mack truck and low loader, a boat this size is meant to live on a mooring!! I have been working all week and am looking forward to heading out tomorrow. I will try to put a few pre launch photos in the same folder. --- OnFri, 12/6/09, Giuliano Girometta<ggboat1@...>wrote:

Note that the photos were posted by Dominic Tyson of the prolific Tasmania Tysons. Hopefully he will reply with more info. They built a lobsterboat named Bunny R based on a Bolger design. Is this it or?
Is the St. Piere Dory suited to your home waters? Chuck at Duckworks is experienced with the waters in and about Texas and beyond. Not knowing the extent of your experience, it could be useful to get input from trusted advisors. There are some here, but be selective. There are many good designs from competent designers who can guide you. Your choice should be governed by how and where you use it.
