Hi Bruce,
Jon
> I am flying in for the Bolger memorial September 19th & 20th and II had concocted a way to get FastBrick, stretched Gypsy, stretched Windsprint, and Long Light Dory all on my utility trailer at once, with Big Tortoise inside FastBrick and maybe Common Sense Skiff on the cap/roof. Another idea was to bring the Light (cat) Schooner and stretched Gypsy piggybacked, with Long Light Dory on the cap/roof and Big Tortoise in the bed of the pickup. What a sight either combination would have been, and you would have been welcome to use any of these boats for the weekend. Unfortunately, I've had to burn vacation time just to cover gaps in contracts this summer, and there's no way I can justify a long road trip back east. Of course, if I get laid off before then, I'll certainly have plenty of time on my hands. In that case, be on the lookout for a rolling boat circus.

Susanne,
I hope this event lives up to your expectations and that Phil's life and his creations are remembered/ enjoyed to the full as he would have wished.
I will not be able to make it, but have held my own memorial event by sailing the other week down the coast in my Micro. The boat lived up to the expectations, including sailing to windward (with tide) so choppy in force 4-5 winds. I spent a 24 hour period on a swinging mooring. Also sailed back home in force 4-5 winds but with the wind. Really enjoyed it, people really found the boat interesting and were very surprised at it size and comfort. Had a wonderful sail in gentle breeze with other boats, spent most of the time sailing slightly to windward which is mostly hands off as the boat is so beautifully balanced.
God bless you and all who attend on the 19th

For the Bolger Memorial Event on September 19th at the Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center I hope to have SPUR II available, likely in much 'used' appearance but perfectly rowable. KOTICK will be there as static exhibit on the main pier, next to chine-rotten SHOEBOX, probably FLYING CLOUD and BEE, with LILY likely on her trailer next to them, and SHIVAREE running in the water. RESOLUTION with remain 'dry-docked' at 66 Atlantic Street, as fuzzily visible via Google Earth.
There is a stout electric hoist near the tip of the main pier allowing to lift out of the water a light trailerable or cartopable boat or three to rest on the pier for the event to be broadly admired up close. That will have to do for now.
The event will be open-ended that evening i.e. with much opportunity to share perspectives then and there and likely boats the next day to explore the waters that nurtured Phil's imagination since earliest years.

can't fit any of my Bolger boats into my carry on bag. I am curious
where people are staying, as I am looking forward to socializing face
to face with many of you. Centered around Cape Ann Campground? As,
much of this will be afloat, I feel left "out of the water" without my
boats...does anybody have a spare rowboat to loan for that weekend?
