It's fun and easy to do on these little boats. Though I didn't mess with the hull shape :) .

For fast build it is hard to beat an EP, I budget 25 hrs including painting, and under a $100. Third pic down in use.

The EP is very similar in handling to an El Toro but more stable. A
contributor to the group who has used both a Rebens and an EP says the
Ruebens is stable enough to cast out of. \

I built a 'Botticelli' Nymph last fall, midway between the original
Nymph and a Rubens at 4' beam. I was looking for more stability than
Nymph, but didn't need the bulk/beam of the Rubens. I'm very happy with
the result.

I chose the smaller Nymph rig as it is being used as a trainer for the
kids and low-stress sailing platform for the wife. I also added
flotation chambers fore and aft, and left out the middle frame and
longitudinal seat, to basically make it a big open sailing bathtub
between frames 1 and 3. Rowing is from atop a couple of throwable seat
cushions (we don't row it much). So it's still a Bolger hull, but pretty
heavily modified inside.

We've had a lot of fun in it this summer, at Jordan Lake and in Bogue
Sound, NC. On one July summer day I ran from Morehead City to Emerald
Isle, some 18 miles. Fun! Here are some pics:

Great little design! (My wife calls it my chick magnet, but most of them
are under 5 or over 60!)

Forgot to mention, I also installed a bilgeboard/daggerboard to replace the leeboard, and a kick up rudder (from the Gypsy plans), both highly recommended modifications if you plan to sail one much.

Nice to hear, I'm zeroing in on the RN as a tender and it sounds like a good boat to take up fishing in the mountain lakes.  I have a six-hour canoe I use for that sort of thing but have been thinking a dink might be better.  Enjoyed your blogspots by the way!

I built a Rubens Nymph last year and for small sailboat it is very nearly the perfect tender. Very stable, rows well and yes you can stand up and use the fly rod without embarrassing yourself!

Fact is I am in the process of getting ready to build another RN using it as the base for a Portland Pudgy type of life boat.
