dear brother, Mason,
Well where is Jon Wilson when you need him? Those who can't create either criticize or write.
I wish that i could be there, PCB was very instrumental in my life path of the past 35 years. I remember reading his thought that as a fisherman St. Peter would let him into the Pearly Gates on a account of the Gloucester Gull. I'm sure that they must all be rowing together.
I'm thinking about my next boat, thinking 6' x 39' step sharpie... sort of dakota meets sneakeasy 2. Tim P Anderson

Tim, did you note that good ol' WB failed to credit you (or me, or Pat) in the WW caption in Launchings, despite all care. Be assured that I insisted on your being credited, and always do credit you with building the boat. More will be heard of it in the future, I think. Maggie and I are going to Gloucester next weekend with the Micro, Pelican. Sleep aboard in the river Sat. night. We hope to do a circumnav of Cape Ann, or perhaps sail up-coast toward Newburyport on Sunday. Or we'll go with the fleet whatever it does. Will be thinking of you.  ---Mason

most room temp epoxies fail when the temp hits 120 deg Fahrenheit

The illustrations look great, but black can be a tough color when it comes to the real boat. If it's not glossy, it looks very flat, and if glossy, shows every imperfection.

I much prefer the original, just the way Phil drew it. Also, you'll want to have the rudder straight up and down, not angled back, or you'll have a wicked weather helm.

Bill,

I looked through all of the Bolger groups and wasn’t able to find yourBlack Skimmerillustrations.  Could you provide a better directions as to their location?  Thanks!

I've posted a couple Black Skimmer illustrations in the group photo section (folder name: Black Skimmer).

I created these to evaluate my planned color scheme and also show a couple changes (driven by aesthetics) I am considering. The changes deal with the bowsprit. One illustration shows a clean bow. I prefer this aesthetic but I imagine the anchor wrestling will be messier. The other illustration shows a variation of the original bowsprit drawing. I was thinking of a beefier removable bowsprit (don't take the jib seriously). I prefer the less "clipper" look but acknowledge that this is not as smart or efficient as Phil's original design.

Either scenario reduces the excellent functionality of the original design however there are a couple of us in the world that will choose aesthetics over functionality if the sacrifice isn't great.

Sorry the images seem fairly small. If there is interest maybe I could post these to a third party photo sharing site.

Just thought I'd share my current daydreams.
