Re: [bolger] IP Address test
Below are truncated headers from 2 test messages.
The original (bottom) was sent from my home machine via my e-mail client. Note
that the "Originating IP" is NOT the same as the current dynamic IP address of
my home LAN, but is a New Jersey Comcast server.
The reply (middle) was sent from my home machine, but via a web login to Yahoo
Groups. Note that the "Originating IP" is WAY different, and is, in fact a
California Yahoo server.
The second reply (top) was sent from the same machine a few minutes later, but
after I closed my browser and logged in to Yahoo anew. Note that the
"Originating IP" is yet a DIFFERENT California Yahoo server!!!
I'm in Seattle.
So, for all you conspiracy theorists, it's time to realize that messages sent
via web logins will have RANDOM "Originating IP" addresses, which are NOT
controlled by the user!
