Re: [bolger] Fast Motorsailer, sailing rig?

I asked PCB for info on the orig fast motor sailer because it looked like a
more open boat(fishing) and he sent a reprint of an article. It is an enlarged
Diablo. I think it is the one pictured in "Open Mind". He said the only
complaint was single handing the lug rig and the small cabin, that the Diablo
was very easily driven. I don,t think it as attractive as Summer Ease but I was
thinking about the utility of it for fishing. This has all changed since I
stumbled on to my Freedom 21. I still haven't got a fisher and one's wife
wouldn't want her Lily to smell like fish, oh no. Clyde

Bolger discusses the performance of the Fast Motor sail under sail in his
book "Boats with an Open Mind" chapter 61. The rig is a dipping lug and
Bolger states that "The point of the dipping-lug is that it delivers great
driving power over a wide range of courses, with a short mast and a minimum
of spars and rigging."
