Re: FW: [bolger] Fast Motorsailer, sailing rig?

In "30 Odd Boats" there is a boat, Flying Splinter, which is a long narrow
power boat/sail boat, in which the mast is moved from one side of the boat
to the other when tacking (lug sail). I wonder if one could put the main
sheet on a horse; drop the yard and sail completely to the deck, with some
slack in halyard, pickup the alum tube mast, lift over the sail/yard,
insert in alternate position, and raise yard and sail in new tac. In the
orig, easier constructed Diablo, FMS, of course. Clyde

Clyde --

Thanks for mentioning the original FMS. Now that I look closely at the
picture, it does resemble a big Diablo. Looks faster & cheaper to build and
cheaper to power than the cutwater FMS.

(My wife also likes the Freedom 21, but I haven't bought her one.)

Right, but like the old Packard ad says, I'd like to ask the man who owns
one.
