Hi Steve,
I'm building a Featherwind, now complete but for tiller, rig, oars, and a final coat of paint. It's a very attractive design - my first build - and has given me a great deal of boat-building pleasure. This one is an mix of the original design with some of the changes made by Dave Carnell with what he called 'the $200 sailboat'. Mine is going to have a lateen rig as per Dave Carnell.
Probably won't be in the water until next NZ summer, so can't report yet on performance.
Andrew.

Hi All,

I tried doing a search of the site and the photo section and can't find anything... so I'll ask.

Anyone ever build a featherwind? If so, how is it for performance, buildability, etc. Any suggested changes, modifications or updates?

Thanks
Steven

Hello Steven,

I owned a Featherwind... I didn't build it, but the boat was very well built, very friendly and I wish I had kept it.... I never got a really good sail rig worked out for it due to the fact that I was in the process of packing, moving and had to get rid of one boat and it went away.

I would reccomend you find someone who has one sailing and see how it's rigged and how it performs..

good luck
