Re: Question about Bolger Skimmer (Instant Boats)
On mine the outside edges have been rounded over and a couple layers of 6" wide 10 oz tape installed for additional strength.

Confused because I thought the bottom frame is the piece beneath the motor board on the same side of the transom as the motor board? You can see the part I mention on the side plan view, but not from the top, so am not sure what it is. It is given a 14 degree bevel.

Hi group, (long time occasional lurker)
I am beginning a 4x8 Skimmer (Poor Man's Whaler) and have a couple questions.
1. Are the official plans the same (but larger) sketches as in the book 'Build The New Instant Boats', or are they more detailed and complete? So as to avoid confusion about the below?
2. At the base of the transom, on the outside, at bottom, along the short extended planing surface, there is a 1 1/2 by 2 1/2 angled item? "Transom bottom frame from 1 1/2 by 2 1/2" ? Confused because I thought the bottom frame is the piece beneath the motor board on the same side of the transom as the motor board? You can see the part I mention on the side plan view, but not from the top, so am not sure what it is. It is given a 14 degree bevel.
Perhaps I am reading the sketch incorrectly. I am not sure I can afford the plans right now though, so any help would be welcome. If they are just an enlarged sheet from the book, that won't be much additional help anyway.
Thanks for any clarification,
Robert

can't afford those you are going to have trouble with the cost of
building the boat.

You can see the part I mention on the side plan view, but not from the top, so am not sure what it is. It is given a 14 degree bevel.
Perhaps I am reading the sketch incorrectly. I am not sure I can afford the plans right now though, so any help would be welcome. If they are just an enlarged sheet from the book, that won't be much additional help anyway.
Thanks for any clarification,
Robert
