Re: [bolger] Micro keel came in light!

I never even thought of weighing mine... and I'm not going to, either. If
it's light, then ignorance is bliss. Besides, it's to dang heavy to load
back up an haul it to a scale.

By the way, I'm just about 70 miles south of Seattle today on Gray's
Harbor. It's been 75 and sunny, with a nice sea breeze. Just thought you'd
like to know, seeing how damp and dank Boston has been lately. :-)

I picked up my Micro keel at the foundry today and it weighed in 35
pounds light. I know that I lost a little weight with the 3%
antimony
mix, but not that much (I think). The keel mold is almost exactly
like Bolger's drawing with the exception of 1/4" more rocker over the
6' of keel. It is supposed to weigh 410 lbs. Where did the weight
go?
I picked up 35 pounds of extra lead in the form of bars that
I
will probably install on the floor centerline under the floorboards
to
boost the ballast and trim the boat. How about sticking it in the
open keel wells? Will it really make that much of a difference?
