Interesting comment. I think the closest thing to a "standard" model for a Friendship sloop for pleasure use is the Pemaquid 25. That's quite a bit bigger. On the other hand, Monhegan is a little bigger than the Herreshoff 12 1/2 which is still popular, along with various more recent variants, so it depends at least a little on the details of deck and cockpit.
PCB designed a larger Friendship sloop called Master Hand, but once you start suggesting alternates, there is no end to the discussion.

I have contacted you directly through e-mail, hope that that's all right.

Carl,
I was smitten by a profile drawing of Monhegan which appeared in the design section of ‘Motor Boating and Sailing’ in the late 60’s. I ordered a design portfolio from PCB shortly thereafter (‘Very Small Boats’ which was subsequently incorporated intoSmall Boats).
Monhegan is a fairly ambitious boatbuilding project and I never came close to starting construction. However, I did see a picture of one in the ‘Launchings’ section of “Woodenboat”. Unfortunately, the picture showed that Monhegan is basically a large scale model of a Friendship sloop and is too small a scale for normal sized people (much like the very pretty Cape Dory Typhoon). The crew was perched on the deck with their knees under their chins. My thinking is that building a Monhegan is a lot of work for a beautiful but not very useful boat. For something similar in profile but somewhat more useful, you might want to look at ‘Keel Whaler Sloop’, design #396 which appears in30-Odd Boats.
Plans should be available from Phil Bolger and Friends.
