Re: eeek! picture

I think spending time as suggested to work out the ballast will be well spent. Your boat is going to displace a bunch more than a standard EEEK!

Calculating ballast on a boat with a square cross section like yours
is not hard. Get a pencil and a calculator, measure the width and
heights to desired waterline for each foot along the boat, and add up
the volume of water displaced. Water weighs roughly 62 pounds per
cubic foot.

Wild guessing now, to sink it to a 10 inch waterline, (say, average
width of 1.5ft) very rough math, 17 * 1.5 * 62 * 0.83 = 1,300 lbs

the original was 11'6" X 24".
I added 50% to all the measurements to use 18' side panels.
The hull came out around 17'4" X 36".
not sure how much ballast to use. 75lb in the original,
I'm guessing at least 150lb.
gonna use a brick sail on it.
I saw your outrigger eeek version, and it's real tempting to try that,
for a better camping boat.
