Re:Gypsy Launch (and June Bug glory)

Garth, Trully inspired to read your Gypsy launch account. I'm still at the
finishing touches stage (hang rudder, pant mast, fillet and tape around
seats, sand and paint, make and mount tiller, etc.) Was desperately trying
to finish her before the Mahone Bay wooden boat festival this past week
(Aug.2-6). Realized the day before the festival began that hours available
vs.hours needed simply could not equate. Took Bee Held, my June Bug instead.
Entered eight of the nine races throughout the 5 day event. June Bugs, Light
Schooners, and Wind Sprints all raced together, but compeated in their
respective classes. Managed to come in 2nd in the June Bug class. Which
might have been more impressing if there had been more than 2 June Bugs
compeating. Phil Lea took all first places with Shoe String. His boat even
beat ALL competitors(WS's and LS's as well as my JB) on two occasions. Quite
wonderful to see what a June Bug is capable of in able hands.
Congratulations Phil (who is sleeping in our spare room even as I type
this), I trust you and Mary are safely back in Arkansas as you read this.

I'm determined to enter the Gypsy in the races next year. Garth, your
account gives me great encouragement. Hope to enter my account by the middle
of next week.

jeb, still regaining my land legs on the shores of Fundy.
