Pointy Skiff fleet boat #1

Having a ball learning how to do this and boat #1 shows it in places.

SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT I'M DOING ARE WELCOME.

All the bulkheads are framed, the hull sides are done and attached to
bulkhead #'s 1 and 2. This week's goal is to attach #3, the transom and
stem. Toughest part so far was lining up the hull sides on bulkhead #2. I
have been gluing and nailing all the parts together. Since I'm using 5200
this is probably big time overkill.

The bulkhead frames are left over 13/16" Poplar ripped to 1" widths. I'll
do the chine logs and gunwales with the same wood. What the heck, it was
paid forand laying around in the garage. Poplar is great to work with.

Messed up the freeboard height over the last 3' of the hull sides.
Fortunately, I laid out a line that was off by 2+ inches (too high). Shear
was way high as it approached the stern; easy fix. Redrew the line and and
re-cut. My only dislike about the construction, so far, is the nail heads
that show on the outside of the hull where the side butt straps attach. The
inside of the hull is really ugly too. I'm going to glue another "butt
strap" on the inside to cover all the clinched over nails. I guess I did
this right. Since I've been using 5200, I probably could do away with most
of the nails including those in the butt straps. Some of you suggested PL
Premium. Today's trip to Home Depot includes buying a couple of tubes.

It helps to have a few good power tools; sabre saw, 10" table saw, 10" mitre
saw. But the most valuable tools so far have been my bevel gauge,
architect's scale, and 4' ruler.

This gone on long enough.....thanks for reading and allowing me to share all
the fun I'm having.
