There is a solar powered ship (or large boat) that is 1/2 way around the world from where it started, so I guess it is doable. Of course, there is a company selling a device that takes excess electricity from solar power and turns it into hydrogen to be used with fuels cells when solar is not available. It is a drop in unit (like a generator) that is already being used in a production solar boat. Can't find the link for the second right now, but have seen it in a yacht mag and on the Web.

Yea well they are likely about 30% right which is not to bad for a first concept.  There are some things out there that will reduce fuel consumption twenty percent with diesel engines using gasoline injection.  So who knows they will likely get fuel consumption down pretty low in the next ten years.

Doug, I guess we could ask the elves that wrote this fantasy up, or the faeries at the bottom of the garden who allegedly conjoured it!

Man-o-man, here is something we are all likely to find interesting even
if it is off topic. I wonder if there isn't some of this technology that
might apply to a small boat?? I mean more than solar panels and wind
generators. Doug
