Why not just ignore the request if it is so disturbing that someone asks for help?
In my view, a pretty self-serving comment - I hopeyougot everything you needed from it.

Yes... we are saddened by the losses of Dynamite and Phil-  but shazam dudes... do we abandon what they loved or go on?

Thank you for the Bolger and friends link I shall contact them. Thanks also to the people that came to my defence.........the others I guess it takes all types to make the world go around.
The reason I posted here was this ..I had an idea that Bolger and friends sold plans as did Mr Payson, but I also knew that both these sources had suffered a berievment and was uncertain how to tactfully aproach them. However it seems buisness as usual.
I'm sure as time goes on I will have more questions.

I too once was a newbie to boat building. It was Phil's book The Folding Schooner that caused me to believe I could build a boat like Teal. Dynamite Payson sold me plans to Teal and answered my naive questions. There was no site like this. Just Phil's books, other books from the wooden boat revival, and Wooden Boat magazine. When I began building ROGUE I didn't know that offsets were in feet, inches, eights. Feet and inches were pretty obvious, but what was that last number? Now I'm skilled enough to build any of Phil's boats from what is published in his books. However, if Dynamite had not had the patience to answer my naive questions I never would have started. I'm happy to answer naive questions, and share my experience. I'm on this site because I believe in the open minded approach to boats which Phil contributed more to than any other designer I know of. I want to rub shoulders with like minded people, and encourage others to be part of it. I have no problem with newbie eagerness, "I think I can do this. I'm going to BUILD A BOAT! Where can I buy plans?!?" I like it.

Patience and tolerance are powerful nurturers. We use them with children, we should use them everywhere.

Be happy!

Yes, the Bolger design 606-II is their 18 footer, with a cabin on
their clam skiff.

Plans available from: Phil Bolger & Friends, P.O. Box 1209,
Gloucester, MA, 01930, Fax: (978) 282-1349

http://www.flickr.com/photos/hallman/tags/clamskiff/

It was written up twice in Messing About in Boats magazine, Fall of
2000 and Spring of 2002. V17N22 and V19N10 Reprints of those
articles are available from Bob Hicks 29 Burley Street, Wenham, MA
01984-1943
The Devil's Advocate responds:  The question was about a modification, not about the basic Bolger/Payson plan.  To my (limited) knowledge, Phil did not design a "cabin clam skiff."
