Re: Auray Punt

Harry, sorry but I didn't get any of the photos you attached. Could you put them in the photo section? It is a nice design and I would appreciate seeing photos.

I assume you built it to plan with two runners on the bottom. It doesn't show a skeg but adding one will improve tracking. I would suggest starting about 16 inches forward of the transom and continue back parallel with the waterline. Not too big, you still want it to turn occasionally. I think that would work. Let us know.

I recall tripping his daggerboard and rudder on the dock. The rig is
a 'generic' balanced lug, and I am guessing that Seth copied or
borrowed the rig from some other similar sized boat. I also recall
that he sure looked to be sailing smartly that breezy sunny Sunday on
the Annisquam River waiting for the tide offshore from the PB&F house.
OK to many questions that I don't have the answer to, forwarded your message to Seth he only peeks in occasionally here. Bruce may have a comment. It does have a dagger board, I think that Seth just pulled the rig out of 103 rigs, may have had some input from Bolger. Closet pole spars. Another view

This leads to detailed questions:

1)  Where did the sail design come from?

2) Don't see a leeboard.  Is there a centerboard?

3) What are dimensions of rudder and centerboard/leeboard, if fitted?

4) What is behavior is choppy water?

5) Big enough for 1 adult and 1 teen?

Really nice pic.  Should be on a poster about "Why sailing is cool".  But, that hull must be a real slapper in a chop?  Thanks for the pictures.

I spotted the gugeons on the transom and did a little digging in the message archive to find that this boat was fitted with a sailing rig.  Any info on results?
