I've had good results with no blush epoxy fromaeromarineproducts.com. It's 2:1, but I use some old pumps I have from a previous build using MAS epoxy, which meter out the 2:1 mix using one stroke from each, hardener and epoxy, so less room for confusion.
Just bought a 3 gallon kit for $132 + $32 west-to-east-coast shipping, for my new long and lean custom-design electric boat build. They also have stuff like microspheres, cabosil, etc. in bulk for good prices.
Not affiliated, just a happy customer.

This is a recurring thread. My $0.02 is the eBay vendor
"polymerproducts" who presently is selling at $60.40/gallon delivered.

I favor 1:1 epoxy mix because I have had bad gooey mess experiences
with the 2:1 (when I messed up and mixed 1:2) About once in a hundred
tries, I inevitably mixed 2:1 with 1:2. Using 1:1 solves that risk.

Hi Roger,
Penetrating epoxy is a 1:1 mix that is thinner and does penetrate into the wood. It was recommended by a friend that I do that prior to laying on the regular epoxy. There has been discussion on this forum on this very topic. I like the idea and it has worked for me. Does it make a difference or is it worth the effort and additional expense? Only time will tell.
Best,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,
I'm not sure what you meant by "plus penetrating
prior to".
Would you please explain what you
meant?
Sincerely,
Roger

Have you tried TAP plastics? They're here in Portland, don't know about Tacoma. Tom Sorensen --- OnWed, 4/20/11, thewildernessvoice<thewildernessvoice@...>wrote:

I did a search on our yahoogroup and online, but really have not found a source for cheap epoxy for fiberglassing and boat building.
I talked to an employee of Systems 3 one time and he told me he would never buy the product, but just go direct to the mfg and buy it for far less. Unfortunately I lost the paper with that information. It is my understanding that industrial epoxy resin is all the same and that the hardner is where the differences show.

I guess the other thing, I have not found a source for industrial epoxy except system 3. So, if you tell me to go to my local supplier, that is not helpful, but if you can give me something to google, that is.

I have concerns about coating both sides and trapping moisture inside the plywood. I do have epoxy experience, but always ready to learn.
