I used clear on my boat (and will again with it's newer, higher
cabin) for night vision and better views on cloudy days. If you put a
window in the cabin top, I'd consider tinted because it's amazing how
much more heat from the sun comes in from a top rather than a side
window. I like the top windows so I can check the set of the sails
when I'm below and the boat is on autopilot (please note, MJ
stability questioners, that my boat is not an MJ and has a deep
keel). You can always make covers to cut down some or all of the
light, but you can't peel off the tinting....
