a shelf. Thats why I never sold or gave away my One Sheet skiff. The
boat came out fine, but the darn thing is so small I was afraid
someone would get hurt in it. You do inspire me though!!!!!!

Someone stop me... I think I may have lost it....
I'm sitting looking at a skiff I made yesterday out of a half sheet of
1/8" luan.
Its 70 inches long and 26 inches wide with 8" sides. It's a pointy flat
iron skiff type.
No, I didn't decide that a whole sheet of plywood was way too
extravagant.
This started off as a 1/4 sized model of a two sheet skiff I've been
working on inspired by Bolger's Teal. I wanted to work out some
construction details...
So I only had to half all the measurements (the kind of math both my
brain cells love) I have a bunch of 1/8" luan I got cheap, so I cut two
24" x 48" pieces, and built from my drawings as if it were full sized
1/4" ply. I was able to cut all the ply with a utility knife which made
it a breeze. I'm using titebond 2 which also simplifies things. I
figured when I was done I could turn this into a coffee table or a
shelf, but then it just kept seeming ... well awfully boat like. So I
recalculated my Hull design and discovered it would handle an 80 to 100
lb kid nicely. Actually I could even get into it (175lbs) in dead calm
water with about 2" of freeboard. (at least that what the computer says,
I'll let you know after it hits the water.) Go figure, I started out to
build a model and ended up with a boat.
I'll do a little write up of it with pictures soon.
Happy sails..
David
PS Dan, thanks for that one sheet dory jpg.
