Re: Duckworks Design Comp.

Folks
A couple of things about the proposed Design Comp.

Prize = entry fee = zero.
Any donated prizes welcome.
Reward is exposure.
As much as you get in (rapidly growing) Duckworks,
plus I'm lobbying a few magazines.
Before you die laughing about "Exposure", remember
a lot of brilliant designers shovel crud for lack of it.

Just got Sept 2000 "Yachting World".
They have a design contest announced in Next Issue.
I had a letter from them in March saying they wouldnt run
one in the forseeable future because it
was a too big and thankless task.Im glad they changed their
mind as Im too involved to go in the DW one.

The Yachting World Comp one includes Professionals and i dont think its
high profile approach will clash with DWorks altogether more down-home
approach. YW dont mention a topic, but the sort of logo-photo next to the
ad
is a profile and deck/sail handling plan for an open 60. My wild guess is
that they will be looking for a 10m composite cruiser-racer.
Duckworks is shaping up more as a 5m garage build.

Just by-the-way, what sort of prize are you considering?

I am really looking forward to the prize award ceremony: "Winner for
Best Use Of Square Rig In A Boat Under 10 feet: Ms. Flexi Spline.
Accepting for Ms. Spline will be......."
